Building Financial Capabilities (BFC) is about empowering individuals and whānau to take control of their financial future. We provide support to help people manage their finances, make informed decisions, and develop the skills necessary to achieve financial independence over time.

Our goal is to help individuals and whānau learn valuable money skills, reduce financial stress, and build long-term financial stability. We create personalized BFC plans, which are supported and monitored to ensure that financial independence is achieved step by step. All information shared by whānau is treated with the utmost confidentiality to ensure trust and privacy throughout the process.

Any government ministry or community agency, including yourself can make a referral to BFC. When making a referral, the staff member completing the referral will act as an advocate during the needs assessment process. Please note that referrals may take up to three days to process.

The Building Financial Capabilities service is completely free for eligible individuals and whānau. He Korowai Trust provides this valuable resource at no charge to help you gain financial control and independence.
